Jacob's Ladder Testimonials
"I am impressed with this program. They helped My son regain respect, hard work, gratitude, appreciation, and self discipline. The counselors are exceptional role models and mentors for the young men there. My son has been successful in his recovery because of the mission and core values of their program."

"Today is a milestone for my son who has completed his journey at Jacobs Ladder. When I turned him over to the staff six months ago he was lost and had no direction. But with the guidance and support of this program, he is focused and determined to be the best he can be. Words can not describe how incredibly thankful I am for Jacobs Ladder and the amazing, dedicated staff that give these guys the courage to face and overcome addiction. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

"The men who run this facility have a deep desire to help the residents who live there. No weakness at this point. Residents are able to explore their own spirituality and are guided and directed in a positive light by the staff."

"The staff and therapist are extremely experienced, very kind and gentle in dealings with client and families. They see the human being under the addiction and help them to address their issues. The farming and it's many responsibilities is a huge part of the program and it helps clients to feel self reliant and self sufficient and they find new skills in themselves they never knew they had. The physical lodgings and the beautiful farmland where it is situated is amazing, therapeutic and restful to clients and families when they visit. In addition to work on the farm they also have fun and take them to a wide variety of experiences...from camping, fishing, bowling, an amusement park, a day at the lake...while not meant to be a vacation the young men at this facility are having fun, working as a team and are a huge support system for one another as they all work on their own issues. The staff are excellent and adept at helping clients to address their medical/dental issues while living there. They provide constant loving support even when it might be a procedure or test the client is fearful of and this is critical to helping all the clients to be as healthy as possible. I feel extremely grateful to have our loved one there and I know it does not get better than Jacob's Ladder at Brookside Farm for helping someone with addiction issues. They have recently implemented a weekly communication via emails with photos to family which is very wonderful and reassuring. Seeing this continue makes it easier to have our loved one very far away from home. Our loved one had done an initial detox and treatment at another shorter term facility where it was determined he had serious deep rooted issues and realized he needed a long term program afterward. The therapist there and the therapist at Jacob's Ladder communicated very effectively so that our son had a seamless transition where he is continuing to work on his issues...and time was not lost as he moved into this longer term program. Jacob's Ladder staff very quickly understood what our son needed to work on and we are grateful to have him in their program."

"I would like to thank one man in particular for following his vision and giving WV a ray of hope with Jacob's Ladder. After 2 weeks, my son has light and peace, I can hear it in his voice. He's learning about his addiction and being provided with skills to deal with it on another level. I'm so grateful for this beautiful, nourishing treatment center. My son made the decision to get healthy, but Jacob's Ladder is giving him the building blocks to STAY healthy. Jacobs Ladder has saved his life."

"Warm, caring staff in a rural setting allows for residents to concentrate on healing. I had the opportunity to see real change in a young man who stayed at Jacob's Ladder. He had the chance to experience several types of therapy options including mediation, mindfulness, yoga, exercise, AA/NA, motivational interviewing, counseling, art, and music therapy in order to find what spoke to him. He has been clean five months and is physically and spiritually a different person. Having the experience of caring for the farm and its animals has helped him invest in life again."

"Jacob's Ladder provides music and art therapy, a working farm for the residents to focus on, and challenging recreational activities for the residents. Jacob's Ladder is on the leading edge of recovery programs in the United States. There is no other program like it in the country and I would recommend this facility for any drug addicted male between the ages of 18 and 25."
