Cathedral State Park |
The land connecting the farm and the residence is a special place named Cathedral State Park. This ancient old-growth forest is one of the very few remaining stands of virgin hemlock forest that once speckled the Appalachian region.
Because of its natural condition (that its biological and physical processes naturally operate without human intervention), the Society of American Foresters recognized the park in the National Natural Areas Program. Hiking trails meander though old-growth hemlocks, streams, rhododendron and ferns offering a place of serenity and reflection for our residents. |
